Si Samsung estime que la 6G arrivera en 2028<\/a>, elle est encore consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme de la science-fiction pour certains. Josep Jornet, professeur agr\u00e9g\u00e9 de g\u00e9nie \u00e9lectrique et informatique \u00e0 Northeastern, pense toutefois avoir trouv\u00e9 une solution pour la faire fonctionner sans tracas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En collaboration avec la NASA, l’US Air Force et Amazon, Josep Jornet a d\u00e9montr\u00e9, pour la premi\u00e8re fois, que la communication sans fil \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit<\/strong> et \u00e0 large bande passante de la fr\u00e9quence t\u00e9rahertz \u00e9tait possible sur de longues distances<\/strong>. La recherche, r\u00e9cemment publi\u00e9e dans Nature Electronics<\/em>, montre que la 6G pourrait r\u00e9duire la fracture num\u00e9rique ressentie par les communaut\u00e9s rurales, situ\u00e9es en dehors des r\u00e9seaux de fibre optique \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une plate-forme \u00ab\u00a0unique en son genre\u00a0\u00bb pourrait aider \u00e0 inaugurer la technologie 6G<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0Vous devez trouver une technologie qui peut vous offrir une connectivit\u00e9 de type optique sans les probl\u00e8mes optiques, et nous pensons que la technologie t\u00e9rahertz fera \u00e7a<\/em> \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Jornet. La bande t\u00e9rahertz est un ensemble de fr\u00e9quences sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 100 gigahertz qui d\u00e9passent la limite de 71 gigahertz de la 5G. Le probl\u00e8me, c’est que plus la fr\u00e9quence est \u00e9lev\u00e9e, plus la distance parcourue par l’information est courte et plus il est difficile de trouver un m\u00e9langeur assez puissant. En revanche, Jornet et son \u00e9quipe r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 former une liaison de 2 kilom\u00e8tres<\/strong>, la plus longue connexion t\u00e9rahertz<\/strong> jamais \u00e9tablie sur Terre, sans utiliser de m\u00e9langeur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s quatre jours pass\u00e9s \u00e0 la base de l’US Air Force \u00e0 Rome et \u00e0 New York pour \u00e9tablir une connexion t\u00e9rahertz longue distance, ils ont pu envoyer et r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer des informations sans aucune erreur<\/strong>. Le syst\u00e8me con\u00e7u par Jornet et ses collaborateurs atteignait des fr\u00e9quences et des bandes passantes qui \u00e9clipsaient les r\u00e9seaux 5G <\/strong>de plus de \u00ab deux ordres de grandeur<\/em> \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’impact de ce type de connexion \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit et \u00e0 large bande passante serait monumental, offrant des d\u00e9bits de donn\u00e9es plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s et plus de connectivit\u00e9, m\u00eame pour les communaut\u00e9s rurales. Jusqu’\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment, avec le d\u00e9ploiement de la 5G, les communaut\u00e9s rurales se trouvaient entre les mailles du filet de la fracture num\u00e9rique<\/strong>, car les c\u00e2bles \u00e0 fibre optique qui constituent l’\u00e9pine dorsale des r\u00e9seaux de communication de pointe sont co\u00fbteux \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre sur de longues distances. Mais la technologie t\u00e9rahertz sans fil pourrait bien tout changer pour les communaut\u00e9s rurales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La transmission de ce type de fr\u00e9quence n’est en revanche pas \u00e9vident puisqu’elles n\u00e9cessitent \u00ab\u00a0une visibilit\u00e9 directe<\/em> \u00bb, comme il le dit. Le scientifique estime ainsi que l’espace serait la solution<\/strong>, faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la technologie satellite Starlink de SpaceX<\/a>. \u00ab\u00a0Vous aurez une connectivit\u00e9 comme le fait Verizon Fios, ind\u00e9pendamment de l’endroit o\u00f9 vous vous trouvez dans le monde, simplement parce que vous avez un tas de satellites en orbite autour de la Terre avec la bonne technologie<\/em> \u00bb dit-il. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
