Apr\u00e8s plusieurs semaines de teasing, de rumeurs et de fuites plus ou moins cr\u00e9dibles, NVIDIA vient de d\u00e9voiler au cours d’une pr\u00e9sentation dont il a le secret sa nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de cartes graphiques. Bas\u00e9es sur l’architecture Ampere, ces GeForce RTX 3070, RTX 3080 et 3090 <\/a>viennent remplacer les “vieillissantes” RTX 2080 Ti et 2080 au catalogue du constructeur. On note donc que la RTX 3090 se pr\u00e9sente comme une nouvelle carte ultra haut de gamme qui vient se placer au dessus des autres, sans remplacer de mod\u00e8le pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’architecture Ampere succ\u00e8de \u00e0 Turing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Si l’architecture Turing inaugurait la prise en charge mat\u00e9rielle du ray tracing gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des unit\u00e9s de calcul d\u00e9di\u00e9es, Ampere en am\u00e9liore grandement les performances avec des RT Cores de seconde g\u00e9n\u00e9ration. Les Tensor Cores, des unit\u00e9s de calcul sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es dans tout ce qui touche de pr\u00e8s ou de loin au deep learning et \u00e0 l’intelligence artificielle, et particuli\u00e8rement utiles pour la gestion du DLSS, ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9lior\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En outre, le nombre de CUDA Cores par GPU augmente par rapport aux chipsets de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente, avec des fr\u00e9quences l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es. Toutes ces am\u00e9liorations sont rendues possibles gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une gravure plus fine des GPU, qui passe de 12 nm sur Turing \u00e0 8 nm sur Ampere, pour un total de 28 milliards de transistors (pour le plus gros GPU). Les nouvelles GeForce RTX 3000 utilisent par ailleurs de la m\u00e9moire GDDR6X, augmentant la bande passante m\u00e9moire par rapport \u00e0 ce que permet Turing. Ampere appara\u00eet donc clairement comme une \u00e9volution de Turing, avec des Tensor Cores et RT Cores plus matures et plus performants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Des performances ahurissantes (pour le prix)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dans le d\u00e9tail, NVIDIA indique que les moteurs de calcul d’Ampere sont sensiblement plus performants que ceux de Turing : on passe ainsi de 11 TFLOPS \u00e0 30 TFLOPS pour les Shader Cores, de 34 TFLOPS \u00e0 58 TFLOPS pour les RT Cores et de 89 TFLOPS \u00e0 238 TFLOPS concernant les Tensor Cores (sur la RTX 3080 par rapport \u00e0 la RTX 2080 Super).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selon NVIDIA, la RTX 3070 est capable de faire tourner ais\u00e9ment des jeux en 1440p \u00e0 60 images par seconde avec ray tracing et DLSS, alors que la RTX 3080 vise carr\u00e9ment le 4K \u00e0 60 images par seconde dans les m\u00eames conditions. Enfin, la monstrueuse RTX 3090 sera capable d’afficher des jeux en 8K \u00e0 60 images par seconde, avec ray tracing (et DLSS) ! Autant dire que ces nouvelles GeForce RTX “Ampere” permettront de faire tourner le futur Cyberpunk 2077<\/a> de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s confortable, malgr\u00e9 les nombreux effets graphiques et visuels pr\u00e9sents dans le jeu (ray tracing, occlusion ambiante, r\u00e9flexions, illumination diffuse\u2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 tarif, c’est une (bonne) surprise : la RTX 3080 est annonc\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de 719 euros (699 dollars) pour une disponibilit\u00e9 au 17 septembre, tandis que la RTX 3070 sera affich\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de 519 euros (499 dollars). Elle ne sera en revanche disponible qu’\u00e0 partir du mois d’octobre. Enfin, du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la GeForce RTX 3090, elle sera disponible d\u00e8s le 24 septembre \u00e0 un tarif de 1549 euros (1499 dollars).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On notera au passage qu’avec un tarif “relativement” abordable, la RTX 3070 affiche des performances l\u00e9g\u00e8rement sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 celles d’une RTX 2080 Ti, alors que la RTX 3080 et son tarif similaire \u00e0 celui de la RTX 2080 Super offre deux fois plus de performances qu’une RTX 2080 !
